Hello,
Usingthe internet has become a real hassle. Even simple actions, such as opening a website or app, often require you to click through misleading consent banners before you can see the actual content.
However, EU lawmakers have theopportunity to finally put an end to thismess. As part of its highly controversial Digital Omnibus package, the EU Commission has proposed the introduction of legally binding automated privacy signals.
These signals would allow you to set your privacy preferences once (e.g. accept, refuse, or limit tracking) – and voila, you would veryrarely see another banner.
The tracking industry, however, is currently doing everything in its power to keep the cookie banner andprevent people from efficiently expressingtheir privacy preferences. Following lobbying efforts [spearheaded by Google](https://noyb.eu/sites/default/files/2026-06/Gone%20in%20one%20click_impacts%...), several Member States are now blocking the EU Commission’s proposal.
Therefore,noybhas joined forces with currently 18 other civil society organisations, businesses and academics to urge decision-makers in Brussels to support automated privacy signals – andto finally kill the cookie banner.
