ICT-initiatives for Democracy and Freedom of Expression The first call for proposals refers to the Swedish Special Initiative for Democratisation and Freedom of Expression, to be implemented by Sida 2012-2014. The initiative aims at supporting activities in new technologies to strengthen democratisation and freedom of expression, primarily in challenging and repressive environments. ICT-initiatives for Empowerment of Women and Girls The second call for proposals is linked to the Swedish Government´s Strategy for Capacity Development and Collaboration 2011-2013. The initiative aims at increasing socio-economic equality between women and men, boys and girls, by ensuring equal access and opportunities to use ICT in an open society, in developing countries.
