Jag håller på att plåga mina nätverk om att få hjälp med att lusläsa en studie och framför därför min förfrågan även till DFRIs "listan" :-) Hoppas det går bra att be om feedback på detta sätt. *********************************** This is a request for comments on the study Islands of Resilience by Smári McCarthy and Eleanor Saitta: http://islandsofresilience.eu/ It lays out a comparative model for ICT possibilities with regards to energy, connectivity and jurisdiction through a case study of Iceland. The RFC period is one week, 17-24 September, starting today. The study is commissioned by the MEPs of the Greens/EFA Group. Hej! Jag underar om det kanske finns folk på listan med ett tetris-förflutet, eller med nåt liknande lätt drag åt att gilla att pilla med små monotona detaljer? Jag gjorde en diff mellan läckan och det liggande förslaget ("draft") på collective-rights-management-direktivet som blev ganska bra: http://euwiki.org/CRM Nu tänkte jag ge mig på en diff mellan läckan och det liggade förslaget Data Protection Regulation: http://euwiki.org/DPR Kroknade lite igårkväll eftersom det var lite större textmassa så det är därför jag vänder mig till ev. likasinnade. Om det finns nåt automagiskt program som gör diffar skulle jag bli jätteglad. Om inte har jag förslag på hur man ksulle kunna använda det Pippi Longstrings hittar för att bygga en begriplig diff per interessant sektion av texten. "Google är ingen tomteverkstad"

Hej listan! Dagens intervju med David Mothander som jobbar med samhällsfrågor på Google bjuder på följande lilla pärla: Hur många personer på Google har tillgång till data om våra sökningar och besök? – Vi är ingen tomteverkstad. Det är en automatiserad process. Men det finns ju folk som har tillgång till kodverktyget. http://www.dn.se/nyheter/sverige/var-avsikt-ar-inte-att-kartlagga-manniskor David upprepar senare att processen är automatiserad som om det skulle garantera någons säkerhet. Jag tycker att det är symptomatiskt att folk verkar tro att integritetsproblem försvinner så fort man gör en process som hanterar känsligt data "automatiserad". Jag gissar att hotbilden för den som resonerar så är en person som sitter och läser igenom datat som hanteras innan det sätts in i en pärm eller något. Är det bilden av växeltelefonisten som kopplade våra telefonsamtal förr i världen och kunde lyssna av samtalen som sitter kvar på näthinnan? Skulle dagens diskussion kring integritetsskydd vara behjälplig av en uppdaterad bild av hoten? Jag är i regel ganska tveksam till att föra den här frågan framåt genom skrämselkampanjer men kanske går det att förklara problematiken utan att måla fan på väggen? Vad tror ni?

Mesh Networking

Hi All, I thought it was likely that some on this list would be interested in mesh networking. At the beginning of October there is the International Summit for Community Wireless Networks (IS4CWN) in Barcelona. The first summit in 2004 launched what is now called the community broadband movement and this year will bring together participants not just from projects in the US and the EU but panelists from the developing world who are interested in building and expanding community wireless networks in their own countries. Keynoters include Amelia Andersdotter, Swedish MEP, Sascha Meinrath from the Open Technology Institute and Aaron Kaplan from Funkfeuer. IS4CWN 2012 will take place at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, a university with an exceptionally high percentage of international students. UPC houses numerous projects funded under the European Union's Seventh Framework Program and Barcelona is also home to guifi.net, one of the largest community networks in the world, encompassing over 23,000 individual nodes.
